Celebrating 30 years: 1981 - 2011

Two young chaps called Mark Adams (21) and Tom Lewis (25) began working together from a living room in Richmond, West London in July 1981. They did mostly technical writing in what were the very early days of the computing industry.

Their writing wasn’t half bad and soon managed to move to a small office in Chiswick. Early in 1982, they got a phone call from a very small American company which made programming languages for computers.

The company was thinking of trying to launch in Europe, as things were going pretty well and even IBM was keen to work with them. Mark and Tom came recommended following the launch of a British hard-disk manufacturer the previous year and technical writing for British software firm, Micro Focus. In Spring 1982, Mark and Tom met a guy called Steve. They got on fine and a month or so later, Mark and Tom travelled with two of his colleagues, Bill and Paul, around Europe launching their software.

The time the four guys spent together was pretty intense, lots of strategy discussions and media interviews in hotels all across Europe. The tour went well and the business boomed. The software company was Microsoft and the leading characters were of course… Steve Ballmer (25), Bill Gates (26) and Paul Allen (28).

That same entrepreneurial spirit lives on today, together with the drive to do what it takes to ensure our clients goals are met.
